This step by step drawing tutorial is teaching you how to draw a lizard. I will show you my thinking process as well as describe to you what I did during every steps of drawing process.
I started with basic geometrical shapes that best describes the lizard in terms of shape and volume. This will act as the overall frame work for my lizard drawing.
Basic line art is added on top of the geometrical shapes, this gives a basic look of the creature I am drawing.
Once the basic outline is confirmed, the construction shapes are removed and light shading is added in to express the texture of the lizard’s skin and its surface contour. The eyes are given the most attention from the start because well drawn eyes can really bring your drawing to life.
More shading and skin texture are added. The stone is also shaded to blend in with the rest of the drawing.
More details are added to around the eyes.
Background shading are added in to make the lizard pop out from the drawing.
Backkground is refined and more skin textures are added around the head regions. The shadings on the stone and lizard body are also being refined.
More details and high light spots are added to the lizard’s body. And the edges further away from the camera is blued to give the illusionist of depth. This drawing is only meant to be a drawing practice and it is far away from finished.
